This
series of soaps was designed to reflect elements of our holiday to Canada in
2019, using some more experimental and complicated techniques to develop and
challenge my skills.

Description
– A pyramid of rolled ‘scoops’ of ice cream. This soap uses soap dough to
create the imbedded details. I decided to take a slight risk by adding raisins
to the batter, but I like the effect they create.
Ingredients: Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter) Oil, , Distilled Water, Sodium Hydroxide, White Kaolin Clay.
Colourants:
Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Powder, Titanium Dioxide, Blue Mica.
Fragrance:
Rum and Raisin

Description – In Canada we
visited a fabulous spa on the roof of a building where the hot spring waters
are piped up from deep in the earth. This design replicates the view from the
side of the main pool down into the depths. It was a simple angled pour, the
mould slipped slightly so the dark line isn’t as level as I’d like.
Ingredients: Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Whole Milk (DAIRY), Elacis Guineensis (Palm) Fruit Oil, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Prunus Dulcis (Sweet Almond NUTS) Oil, Sodium Hydroxide, White Kaolin Clay.
Colourants: Titanium Dioxide and
Blue Mica
Fragrance: Sea Breeze and Cut

Description – This bold design
reflects the moon over the Canadian prairie, picking out the colours of the
land and the flare of light off the horizon. Using charcoal as well as kaolin clay
gives a deep black with added skin-friendly properties.
Ingredients: Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Dark Porter Ale, Elacis Guineensis (Palm) Fruit Oil, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Prunus Dulcis (Sweet Almond NUTS) Oil, Sodium Hydroxide, White Kaolin Clay, Biodegradable Glitter.
Colourants: Activated Charcoal,

Description - Canada Place was
the port where we boarded the cruise ship Nordam in Vancouver. The coastline
was a combination of tall forest and white buildings, with the occasional
seabird floating by. This soap is probably my most challenging so far,
combining many intricate sculpted layers.
Ingredients: Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter) Oil, Distilled Water, Sodium Hydroxide, White Kaolin Clay.
Colourants: Titanium Dioxide, Matcha
Tea, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Powder, Blue and Brown Mica.
Fragrance: Sea Breeze.

Buffalo Burger Shea Butter Soap

Description - Food in Canada was
fabulous, so what other way could I do it justice than by creating my own
buffalo burger? With layers of M+P and sculpted soap this is – although not a
unique design – an interesting one. I’m not quite satisfied with the colours
yet, this will take some future re-making, probably switching to a Milk Soap
base as it keeps the colours true during saponification. The order of fillings
is also likely to change between batches.
Ingredients: Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter) Oil, Distilled Water, Sodium Hydroxide, Melt and Pour Glycerine Soap Base, Poppy Seeds, White Kaolin Clay.
Colourants: Titanium Dioxide,
Green, Red, Yellow and Brown Mica.
Fragrance: Dragon’s Blood

Description - Although I’ve never
seen it myself, I know that Canada’s weather ranges from +40 to -40 across the
year, and they regularly have snow from November through to April. Reflecting
the snowy plains of Canada, this soap uses angled layers and lines of charcoal to
create a vast landscape, decorated with carved details filled in with Melt and
Pour.
Ingredients: Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter) Oil, Distilled Water, Sodium Hydroxide,White Kaolin Clay, Melt and Pour Glycerine Soap Base.
Colourants: Titanium Dioxide,
Activated Charcoal, Green and Brown Mica.
Fragrance: Sandalwood
